REQEST PERSONAL PROHECY - “HEARING THE VOICE OF THE SPIRIT” There are many different ways that the Spirit can speak to you when you are praying for someone either face-to-face or online. For the sake of this hands-on introductory how-to book, I want to expound on the three most common ways the Spirit speaks, which are HEARING, SEEING, and IMPRESSION. This Chapter will explain HEARING. This is going to be the most common way the Spirit will speak to you when praying to receive a personal prophetic word for someone. Let’s back up a little and go to a very popular story in the Old Testament of the Prophet Elijah. Go to your bible or Google it to I Kings 19:11-13 “And he said, Go Forth, and stand upon the mount before the Lord. And, behold, the lord passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the Lord was not in the earthquake: And after the earthquake a fire: and after the fire, a STILL SMALL VOICE. And it was so when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering of the cave. And behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah?” The point I am trying to convey to you all is that this is the most common way that you will hear not only for yourself as Elijah learned here in that passage of scripture, but as you are praying for other people to HEAR for them as the Spirit will speak with that still small voice within yourself and you will relay what you are hearing within your own spirit. Let’s do a simple exercise now, or you can practice after you read this chapter. Think of a friend or anyone that you would like to pray for and prophesy to. Close your eyes and ask the Holy Spirit to speak to you about that person. I find it easier when I am seeking to hear for people to be silent and have an attitude of complete surrender to the Holy Spirit. I position myself for anything that would come into my spirit when it comes to HEARING the still small voice within me. This does take practice, but you will see that it will work. The hardest thing to learn in the beginning is to clear your mind and all the other thoughts of your everyday life. If a person comes to your mind that you know or are connected to, it can be helpful to write all the things you feel and know about this person before you start praying. Then you know that the things coming to you in your prayer time are from the Holy Spirit, and not from yourself. Once you get to the point that you are calm and in a mindset of complete surrender to listening to what that still small voice has to say for that person you are praying for, you will begin to HEAR words, thoughts, or sequences of words that you may or may not understand at that moment in time. Write them down if the person is not in front of you and relay to them what you were hearing from the Spirit for them and see if it connects with anything in their life.
